Join NSU Basketball Coaches Clark, Evans in the Fight Against Cancer

NORFOLK, Va. – For the first time, basketball coaches from Hampton Roads are coming together in the fight against cancer. Hampton Roads college basketball coaches present the Coaches vs. Cancer Full Court Press.

The inaugural “Full Court Press” will be held on April 14 at 7 p.m. at the Half Moone Cruise and Celebration Center in Norfolk. Both NSU women’s basketball coach Debra Clark and men’s basketball coach Anthony Evans will be in attendance. The event will include dinner, dancing and live entertainment as well as an opportunity to bid on items in a live and silent auction.

Hall Automotive to Sponsor Tides-NSU Baseball Exhibition

NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk State University athletics department is pleased to announce that Hall Automotive will be the title sponsor for the upcoming exhibition baseball game between the Norfolk Tides and the NSU Spartans on April 6 at Harbor Park. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.

Softball Splits Twinbill with Hampton

NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State softball team split a doubleheader with rival Hampton University on Thursday afternoon at the NSU Softball Field. The Spartans (3-12) prevailed 2-1 in game one, but dropped a 4-2 decision to the Lady Pirates (7-19) in game two.

Smith Named to All-MEAC 2nd Team

NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State sophomore Sheila-Marie Smith (Virginia Beach, Va.) was named to the All-MEAC women’s bowling second team, the conference announced on Wednesday. It is her second straight year being named to the all-conference second team.

NSUAF Sports Hall of Fame Accepting Nominations for 2010 Class
NORFOLK, Va. - Nominations are now being accepted for the 2010 Norfolk State University Athletics Foundation Sports Hall of Fame induction. The induction class will be honored at a ceremony and brunch on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott Hotel.

Spartan Men Earn Weekly MEAC Tennis Honors

NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State University junior Arsenio Culver (Philadelphia, Pa.) was named the MEAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for the weeks of Feb. 22 and March 1, the league announced on Wednesday.

In addition, freshman Dexter McDowell (Suffolk, Va.) earned MEAC Rookie of the Week accolades for Feb. 22.
