Williamsburg, Va. — Norfolk State sophomore Aurora Scott (Portsmouth, Va.) finished fourth at the William & Mary Tribe Open on Saturday. She ran the 6K (3.7 mile) course in 22:17.21.
Former Virginia Commonwealth runner, Maria-Elena Calle won the overall title in 20:36.24.
Junior Jennifer Chichester (Silver Spring, Md.) finished fifth in 22:37.08 and was closely followed by freshman Kellen Rotto (Eldoret, Kenya) who came in sixth in 22:48.34. Rounding out NSU's top five were senior Tia Miles (Richmond, Va.) and sophomore Jamia Hutto (Orlando, Fla.) who had times of 23:56.90 and 24:41.30, respectively.
Freshman Mercy Koech (Londiani, Kenya) made her long-awaited season debut for NSU and finished the race in 25:00.96.
The Spartans have two weeks to prepare for the 2009 MEAC Cross Country Championships which will be held in Princess Anne, Md. on October 31 at 9:45 a.m.
