Athletes of the Week
Football
Recorded 10 catches for 100 yards and two touchdowns in the 21-16 win over Delaware State...had eight catches for 86 yards and both of his touchdowns in the decisive fourth-quarter rally...scored the winning TD with 49 seconds remaining on a 39-yard catch-and-run where he broke two tackles before finding the end zone...it was his fourth 100-yard receiving game of the season.
Women's Volleyball
Posted 50 assists in NSU's two matches last week...had six kills, no errors and hit .429 in the loss to Bethune-Cookman...added 27 assists in the loss to Florida A&M...had five digs in each match.

American Legion Baseball
NSU to Host Baseball Showcases, American Legion All-Star Games

NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk State University’s Marty L. Miller Baseball Field will play host to several days of exciting baseball action this summer.

NSU will host the Power and Speed League Invitational on June 13 and 14. The event features high school-age teams from Pennsylvania and Virginia and will consist of approximately eight games. Admission is free, and concessions will be available through the NSU Baseball Booster Club. Norfolk State and Marty L. Miller Field will also be the site for the Virginia American Legion All-Star Games on Sunday, June 28. This year, the games will pit teams from District 2 (South Hampton Roads area teams) against those from District 3 (Peninsula-area teams). The junior legion (maximum age of 17) all-star game begins at 2 p.m., and the senior all-star game (maximum age of 19) is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start. Admission is $3. Concessions will also be sold. NSU is also one of five host sites for the Dynamic Championship at the Beach, a high school showcase tournament, on July 17-19. The event includes approximately 40 teams from the East Coast. A total of 10 games will be played at NSU. There is no admission charge for the games at Marty L. Miller Field, and concessions will be available.
