NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State senior kicker
Ryan Estep was named the MEAC Special Teams Player of the Week for the fourth time this season, and freshman linebacker
Marcell Coke was named Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
Estep hit a career-high four field goals, connecting from 23, 28, 32 and 39 yards out in NSU's MEAC title-clinching 47-14 win at Morgan State. Estep was also a perfect 5-of-5 on extra points, giving him a career-high 17 points on the day. Estep finished the regular season 20-of-21 on field goals and 33-of-33 on extra points. He leads the MEAC and ranks third in the nation with 1.8 made field goals per game. Estep also leads the MEAC in scoring, at 8.45 points per game.
Coke made four tackles and recovered a fumbled kickoff in the win. The recovery and Coke's ensuing 16-yard return set up NSU at the Bears' 1-yard line and led to a third-quarter NSU touchdown, which made the score 37-14. This is his first career MEAC honor.
