GREENVILLE, N.C. – Sophomore
Martha Bissah turned in another stellar performance, registering a season-best 6,000-meter time en route to a second-place individual finish at the East Carolina Pirate Invitational on Friday night at Lake Kristi.
In their final race before the MEAC Championships in two weeks, the Spartans placed third as a team behind College of Charleston and host ECU in a nine-team field.
Bissah was the runner-up Friday in 21 minutes, 20.58 seconds. She has finished first or second in all four meets that she has completed this season.
Junior
Candice Higgins also ran a season-best 6K time, finishing 22nd overall in 23:04.61. Sophomore
Ashah Koech was 28th in 23:32.20, while classmate
Caroline Samoei crossed the line 35th in 23:55.02.
Nelly Jerop rounded out the Spartans' top five.
NSU is off next week before competing in the 2017 MEAC Championships in Smyrna, Del. on Oct. 28.
