PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Sophomore
Martha Bissah cruised to the top spot in Saturday's Cappy Anderson Invitational hosted by Maryland Eastern Shore, posting one of the MEAC's fastest times so far this cross country season.
Bissah finished the 5,000-meter course first in 18 minutes, 3.3 seconds to help the Spartan women place second as a team behind Seton Hall in the eight-team meet. The fastest time for any MEAC runner entering the weekend was 18:04.
Junior
Candice Higgins ran a season-best time of 19:02.90 to take third place overall. Sophomores
Caroline Samoei (19:50.60, 11th place) and
Ashah Koech (20:21.4, 14th place) gave the Spartans four finishers in the top 15.
Nelly Jerop rounded out the Spartans' top five in 32nd place (23:05.20).
The Spartans compete next weekend at the George Mason Invitational in Leesburg.
