EARYLSVILLE, Va. – Sophomore
Felix Kiprotich paced the Spartan men's cross country team with a top-10 showing as NSU opened the 2017 season at the University of Virginia Duals on Saturday morning.
Kiprotich finished the 4,000-meter race in a time of 12 minutes, 38 seconds to place 10th in a race which also included U.Va. and Liberty University. Junior
Anteneh Girmah was close behind, taking 11th in 12:39.
In his first race as a Spartan, Central Arkansas transfer
Bill Kemboi crossed the line 14th in 12:59.
Festus Bett was 15th in 13:03 and
Tomas Fantaye was 18th in 13:10. NSU was 0-2 in the duals format, with U.Va. and Liberty both finishing with fewer total points when individual places among the teams were compared.
The Spartans are off next week before competing in the William & Mary Invitational on Friday, Sept. 15.
