Played 51 games and started 42…named to the 2008 MEAC All-Tournament team after hitting .273 and helping the Spartans to the championship game…was second on the team with a .331 batting average…had 44 hits in 133 at-bats…tied for the team lead with five home runs and was hit by 18 pitches (team-high)…had nine doubles, 34 RBI, a .511 slugging percentage and a .434 on base percentage for the season…had the game-winning hit in the Spartans’ 3-2 win over Morgan State in the MEAC Tournament (5-9-08)…went 3-for-4 with three RBI, three runs and two doubles in the second game of a doubleheader against North Carolina Central (3-11-08)…was a perfect 6-for-6 with one homerun, five RBI, five runs scored and two doubles in a doubleheader against Maryland Eastern Shore (4-16-08)…went 2-for-4 with a double and batted in three runs in the MEAC Tournament win over Bethune-Cookman.

A 2006 graduate of Phoebus High School in Hampton, Va., Barnes was a three-time All-Peninsula District pick and was named to the second team as a sophomore…received first-team honors her junior and senior seasons.
