Chichester Leads the Field as NSU Finishes 2nd at UMES Hawk Challenge

PRINCESS ANNE, Md.
— Reining Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week Jennifer Chichester (Silver Spring, Md.) won her second straight individual title on Saturday when she finished first in a personal- and course-record time of 17:59 at the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawk Invitational. Norfolk State finished second overall with 51 points behind UMES (36), the 2007 MEAC Champions.

Sophomore Anastacia Limo (Kapsabet, Kenya) posted a personal-best time of 19:12 to finish 10th overall and second for NSU. Junior Tia Miles (Richmond, Va.) finished 11th in 19:42.

Syeeda Gee (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Marnita Patterson (Chesapeake, Va.) rounded out the Spartans' top five, finishing 14th and 15th, respectively. Gee ran a 20:00, while Patterson finished in 20:07. Candace Shoates (Newport News, Va.) also had a career day, finishing the race in 20:53.

The Spartans will take next week off before competing in the MEAC Championship on Oct. 25 at UMES in Princess Anne, Md.
