Kimutai Wins Title at Colonial Inter-Regional

Final Results

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Norfolk State sophomore Philemon Kimutai (Eldoret, Kenya) continued his strong early-season pace by winning the Colonial Inter-Regional Challenge hosted by William & Mary at Eastern State Hospital.

Kimutai finished the 5-mile course in 25 minutes, 29 seconds. His first-place finish helped the Spartans come in fourth among the eight teams.

Junior Josef Tessema (Springfield, Va.) finished second among the Spartans. His season-best time of 25:59.50 was good for seventh place.

Rounding out the Spartans' top five was Amos Kipkosgei (Eldoret, Kenya) in 18th place, Vincent Rono (Bomet, Kenya) in 38th and Jonathan Soimo (Kapsabet, Kenya) in 39th.

The Spartans run at the Great American Cross Country Festival next Saturday in Cary, N.C.
