Final Results
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Norfolk State sophomore Kellen Rutto (Eldoret, Kenya) took first place to lead the Spartan women's cross country team to a second-place finish at the UMES Lid-Lifter on Saturday morning.
Hampton won the women's team title with 22 points, while NSU was second with 42.
Rutto finished the 5,000-meter course in 19:31.75 to lead four NSU women placing in the top 11. Jennifer Chichester (Silver Spring, Md.) was fifth in 20:27.86, Syeeda Gee (Philadelphia, Pa.) was 10th in 21:33.87 and Mercy Koech (Londiani, Kenya) was 11th in 21:51.73.
Jamia Hutto (Orlando, Fla.) rounded out the Spartans' top five in 15th place (22:54.53).
The Spartans are off next week before taking part in the Lou Onesty Invitational hosted by the University of Virginia on Sept. 18.
