EARLYSVILLE, Va. – The NSU men's cross country team tied for eighth place on Friday afternoon at the Panorama Farms Invitational hosted by the University of Virginia.
The host Cavaliers won the meet with 39 points. NSU tied Virginia Commonwealth with 235.
Senior
Josef Tessema led the way for the Spartans with a 17th-place finish on the 8,000-meter course. He crossed the finish line in 25 minutes, 17.41 seconds. Junior
Vincent Rono was 44th (38th toward the team total) in 26:08.46.
Senior
Philemon Kimutai was 61st (49th toward the team standing) in 26:28.92. Rounding out NSU's top five were sophomore
Damtew Adnew in 92nd (64th) in 27:56.14, and junior
Kameron George in 101st (67th) in a time of 29:15.25.
The Spartans are off next week before defending their MEAC title on Oct. 29 at UMES. NSU will be seeking its fourth straight MEAC championship and 11th in 12 years.
