O'Quinn Caps Orlando Summer League with 9 Boards in Loss to Celtics

ORLANDO, Fla. – Kyle O'Quinn posted his best rebounding total of the week Friday as the Orlando Magic's summer league concluded with a 94-73 loss to the Boston Celtics.

STAT LINE: O'Quinn grabbed nine boards in 17 minutes while scoring six points on 3-of-6 shooting. He saw time at both forward and center.

FOR THE WEEK: O'Quinn reached double figures in scoring three times, averaging 8.8 points a game. He also averaged 6.2 rebounds and shot 55 percent from the field and was named to the All-Orlando Summer League second team. Orlando finished the week 2-3.

KYLE ON THE WEEK: ``I think I played pretty well this week, but I learned a lot and that's the biggest thing. I learned all of those plays and I learned the NBA game. You can make mistakes in college and work your way back into it. But there is little room for error here in the NBA because the players are great.''

THE FRONT OFFICE ON KYLE: ``I thought Kyle did a great job," said Orlando GM Rob Hennigan.  "His game complements [first-round pick Andrew Nicholson 's] game. Kyle is physical and rebounds. He knows who he is and that his game is geared toward doing the dirty work. We like that he embraces that mentality.''

NEXT UP FOR KYLE: After Friday's game, he said he's staying in Orlando to prepare for training camp rather than return home to Queens, N.Y. ``I'm going to spend most of my time here learning about the Orlando Magic and the NBA game. You can't learn about the NBA game in Queens because my parents don't know anything about the NBA,' O'Quinn said.
