PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The Norfolk State men's cross country team dominated the field on Saturday morning at the UMES Lid-Lifter Invitational in Princess Anne, Md., taking the top four individual places and the team title in the 5K race.
NSU finished with 17 points followed by Maryland Eastern Shore (57), Morgan State (68), Delaware State (104) and Coppin State (114).
Freshman David Kibet finished first with a time of 15:46.02. Rounding out the top four finishes were seniors Kipchirchir Kiptoo and Damtew Adnew, as well as freshman Sammy Kiptoo, who ran 15:46.09, 15:56.05 and 15:57.01, respectively.
Redshirt freshman Marquis Worsley (16:41.02) placed seventh, while sophomore Joshua Carino (17:10.02) and sophomore William Brown (17:29.07) finished seventh and 15th, respectively. Closing out the race for the Spartans was Jerome Scurry Jr. (18:16.07), who placed 25th.
The Spartans will return to action on Sept. 21 when they compete at the UMES Cappy Anderson Invitational at the UMES Cross Country Course in Princess Anne, Md.
