SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Norfolk State women's tennis team picked up several wins as the Spartans wrapped up their fall season at the Terrier Intercollegiate hosted by Wofford from Friday through Sunday at the John E. Reeves Tennis Center.

She nearly came away with her second as well on Sunday, rallying to win the second set by a 6-2 score over Julie Gauguery of Arkansas State. Gauguery won the first set, 6-3, and also came away with the match win with a 12-10 third-set tiebreaker score.

Junior
Andrea Macchiavello fell in both of her singles matches, and like her teammates she also dropped a heartbreaker. Christine Boissevain of UNC Asheville barely survived her Friday matchup with Macchiavello, winning 7-6, 4-6, 12-10 over the Spartan junior. Macchiavello then fell by a 6-3, 6-3 score on Sunday to Demi Henschel of Presbyterian.
Gordeeva and Macchiavello did salvage their last doubles match of the weekend, downing the Gardner-Webb duo of Yasmin Doost and Sarah Rieckmann by an 8-3 score on Saturday. That victory had followed a pair of losses, including an 8-5 setback to Kalli Karas and Lauren Reid of Wofford on Friday and a gut-wrenching 8-7(5) loss to Arkansas State's Heeps-Eriksen and Victoria Pisani earlier in the day on Saturday.
Kamegne and Lhorca were not so fortunate, as they dropped all three of their doubles matches. First came an 8-5 loss to Claire-Mitchell Andrews and Brittany Nuttall of Presbyterian on Friday, followed by an 8-4 defeat at the hands of Boissevain and Lauren Brooker of UNC Asheville on Saturday. Later that day, the USC Upstate tandem of Nona Ruppert and Nina Roell downed Kamegne and Lhorca, 8-3.
Scott teamed up with Virginia Tech's Frances Peyton in doubles as well. They came up empty in an 8-0 loss to Jordana Klein and Lauren Mueller of Georgia Southern on Friday. On Saturday, the Lenoir-Rhyne duo of Dominique Bruce and Lucy Stofberg won 8-5, and later the Wofford pair of Catherine Martin and Mareli Sanchez also was victorious over Scott and Peyton, 8-4.
Aside from Scott, players did not complete their last singles matches of the tournament because of weather.
