LEESBURG, Va. – Junior
Anteneh Girma paced the NSU men's cross country team for the second time in the last three meets, placing third individually at the George Mason Invitational on Saturday morning.
Girma helped the Spartans place fourth out of 10 teams. The Spartans were behind three teams – St. Joseph's, Duquesne and George Mason – that are ranked in their respective regions of the USTFCCCA.
Girma finished the race in 25 minutes, 36 seconds on a course that measured just shy of 8,000 meters. He was just seven seconds off the pace of winner Dylan Carmack of Davidson. Girma was also NSU's top finisher two weeks ago at William & Mary.
Sophomore
Bill Kemboi also registered a top-10 finish at GMU, placing ninth in 26 minutes flat.
Ronald Korir was NSU's third finisher. He finished 15th in a time of 26:22.
Felix Kiprotich was next, placing 22nd in 26:33.
Festus Bett completed the Spartans' top five in 35th place (26:59).
The Spartans are off next weekend before competing at the East Carolina Invitational on Oct. 13.
