Jones Named BOXTOROW HBCU Coach of the Year; Thomas Earns Co-Player of the Year Honors

| By:
NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State men's basketball program added more postseason accolades to an already prestigious resume on Monday afternoon.

.Jamarii Thomas was named BOXTOROW HBCU National Co-Player of the Year by the publication on Monday, while Norfolk State head coach Robert Jones earned Coach of the Year honors. Thomas was also named to the BOXTOROW HBCU All-America First Team

Transferring to Norfolk State this offseason from UNC Wilmington, Thomas has taken the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) by storm. The 6-0 guard currently averages 17.1 points, 3.8 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game, earning both MEAC Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year last week at the conference's award ceremony.

Despite losing the defending MEAC Player of the Year and two All-MEAC First Team selections from the 2022-23 season, Jones led the Spartans to an outright MEAC regular season title with an 11-3 conference record. He was named MEAC Coach of the Year for the third time in his career.
