BOSTON, Mass. – The Norfolk State men's basketball team concluded the 2024-25 campaign ranked No. 25 in the final CollegeInsider Mid-Major Top 25 poll, released by the organization on Monday evening.
The Spartans produced a 24-11 campaign, going 11-3 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. Head coach
Robert Jones led the squad to both MEAC Regular Season and Tournament championships, securing the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.
Norfolk State took down South Carolina State 66-65 in the MEAC Tournament title game, coming back from a nine-point halftime deficit. Senior guard
Brian Moore Jr. was named the 2025 MEAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player, while Jones received Most Outstanding Coach honors.
Norfolk State is the only Historically Black College or University (HBCU) featured in the final mid-major ranking of the 2024-25 season.
Entering its 26
th season of existence this year, the mid-major poll is made up of teams from the following conferences: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Coastal Athletic, Conference USA, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-East, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt, West Coast, and Western Athletic.
