Amos Kipkosgei is in his first year as the technical coordinator for the Norfolk State men’s cross country team.

Kipkosgei was a letterwinner for NSU in both cross country and track and field from 2009-2011. During his time at NSU, he placed fourth overall at the 2009 MEAC Cross Country Championship with a time of 26:02. During the indoor season he claimed the 2010 MEAC Indoor title in the 5,000m competition with a time of 15:18. He also took third place in the 5,000 at Virginia Tech (15:04.83) and came in fourth in the 3,000m at Penn State. Kipkosgei finished the season posting the MEAC’s second-fastest time of the indoor season with a time of 8:32.31.

In his second year as a Spartan, Kipkosgei earned All-MEAC honors in cross country with a personal-best 8K time of 24:58.90. He also registered top-five finishes in all three distance races at the 2011 MEAC Indoor Championship. In the outdoor competition, he was the MEAC runner-up in three events to help the Spartans to the team title.

Before competing at NSU, Kipkosgei also ran cross country for New York Tech. At NYT, he was the 2008 East Coast Conference Cross Country champion, where he finished the 8K course in 26:47.63. He also earned the ECC Runner of the Year Award and was named to the all-conference first team.
