Roe Helps SaberCats to ArenaBowl Win

Norfolk, VA

Former Norfolk State star James Roe tied an ArenaBowl record with five touchdown receptions and was named the game’s Ironman as the San Jose SaberCats came away with their second championships in three years with a 69-62 win over the host Arizona Rattlers on Sunday.

Roe, who also plays linebacker, caught scoring passes of 8, 11, 3, 38 and 31 yards. He finished with eight catches for 119 yards. Roe, who set a franchise record with 115 catches in 2003, was also on San Jose’s 2002 ArenaBowl championship team.

Roe, a two-time Division II All-American for NSU, was a sixth-round draft choice of the Baltimore Ravens in 1996. He just completed his sixth year with San Jose.
