NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State sophomore Philemon Kimutai (Eldoret, Kenya) was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference men's cross country athlete of the week for the third consecutive week, the league announced on Wednesday.

Kimutai ran a personal-best time of 24 minutes, 46 seconds to help NSU win the 8K HBCU Challenge at the 2009 Great American Cross Country Festival on Saturday. His time marks the fastest in the MEAC this season.

The Spartans are off this week and return to action on Oct. 17 at William & Mary.
