NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk State freshman forward Danelle Tate (Stafford, Va.) was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Rookie of the week, the league announced Monday.

Tate averaged 23 points and five rebounds off the bench to help NSU to a 1-1 records last week. In the loss to Hampton, she posted a game- and career-high 33 points, shooting 60 percent from the field (12-of-17) and 76.2 percent from the free-throw line (16-of-21). Tate's 13 points and five rebounds against Winston-Salem State helped the Spartans to their largest margin of victory (69-45) this season.

This season, Tate is averaging 10.5 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.
