NORFOLK, Va. – Freshman forward Logan Powell of the Norfolk State women's basketball team was named the MEAC Rookie of the Week on Monday, the conference office announced.

A native of Lebanon, Ky., Powell posted 13.5 points on 10-of-16 shooting with 6.0 rebounds in a pair of non-conference games last week.

She totaled 13 points and four rebounds in NSU's loss against East Carolina at home last Tuesday, and followed that up with a career-high 14 points and eight boards with two assists and a steal in a 116-40 victory over Virginia University-Lynchburg on Friday.

For the season, Powell is averaging 7.1 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. NSU will be back on the court on Sunday against UMBC at the James Madison Tournament.
