NORFOLK, Va. – Sophomore outfielder Haley Ward was named the MEAC Player of the Week late Monday by the conference office after a stellar weekend at Coppin State.

NSU swept the three-game series with the Eagles thanks to Ward's 10-for-11 weekend at the plate. The Virginia Beach native drove in 12 runs and scored seven to go with two walks and two stolen bases. Six of her 10 hits went for extra bases.

She capped off the weekend with a career-high five RBI in a 10-2 win. The Spartans also won the first two games, 10-2, 15-3.

Ward has a hit in 10 straight at bats and has also batted .724 over her last eight games to raise her season average to .521.

NSU will be back at home for the first time in four weeks beginning Friday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader against Howard.
