NORFOLK, Va. – For the second consecutive week and sixth time this season, Norfolk State senior forward Rachel Gordon was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
A native of Woodbridge, Va., Gordon posted 10 points, 13 rebounds and one steal in NSU's 77-63 loss to Howard on Feb. 10. She also tallied 13 points, 11 boards and two blocks on Saturday against Hampton.
Gordon, who ranks first in the MEAC and seventh in the nation in rebounding, is in second place all-time in career rebounding at NSU with 991 boards. She needs only 10 more rebounds to pass Sharon Wallace for first place.
NSU returns to the court on Saturday at Coppin State. Tip-off is at 2 p.m. at the Physical Education Complex in Baltimore, Md.
