NORFOLK, Va. – For the second time in three years, Norfolk State's annual baseball exhibition game with the Norfolk Tides will serve as Norfolk Public Schools Day at Harbor Park. This year's game will also include a special promotion with the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia.
 
This year's contest – the sixth in the last seven seasons between the teams – takes place on Tuesday, April 5 at 5:45 p.m. Gates will open at 4:45 p.m.
 
Admission for all city of Norfolk elementary school students is just $2. A special $5 concession voucher can also be purchased in advance for children who would like to eat at the game. The voucher covers a hot dog, soda and chips.
 
Parking for the game is $5.
 
The NSU baseball program will handle all advance ticket orders with each school's administration and will deliver tickets and meal vouchers to the schools for distribution prior to the game. Members of the NSU baseball team and staff will also visit elementary schools in Norfolk during the month of March to promote the game. The visits will consist of coaches and/or players reading and speaking to designated classes to advocate academic success, teamwork, physical fitness and participation in youth athletics.

The first NPS Day at the NSU-Tides exhibition was held in 2014, with approximately 1,800 students from Norfolk city schools in attendance.
 
In addition to the NPS Day, this year's exhibition game will also include a special partnership between the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Norfolk Tides. Fans who bring five or more non-perishable food items to the April 5 game will receive a buy-one, get-one free ticket voucher to any Tides home game in the month of April.
 
Tickets for the game are on sale now. All advance ticket sales must be placed through NSU by contacting coach Clark, the NSU athletics department (757-823-8152) or the NSU Ticket Center during normal business hours (9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday). Tickets may also be purchased at Spartan home baseball games in the month of March.

General admission tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for youth. Groups with 20 or more will be admitted for $5. Anyone interested in purchasing at the group rate must purchase through coach Clark, the NSU Athletics Department or the NSU Ticket Center. The group rate is only available through advance sales, not on the day of the game.
General admission tickets will be available the day of the game through the Harbor Park box office.
