NORFOLK, Va. –
The Norfolk State men's cross country team will compete Friday morning at the 2017 NCAA Southeast Regional hosted by the University of Virginia.

The men's 10,000-meter race will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, Va.

The top two teams and top four individuals from each of Friday's nine regional sites, in addition to 13 at-large teams, will earn berths to the NCAA Championships at the University of Louisville on Nov. 18.

Two weeks ago, the Spartans won their first MEAC title since 2011 with a dominating performance in Smyrna, Del. NSU athletes took second through fifth places, with Anteneh Girma finishing as runner-up. Bill Kemboi was third overall, Ronald Korir fourth and Felix Kiprotich fifth. Festus Bett also earned All-MEAC honors, placing 11th.

The Spartans are making their first NCAA postseason appearance since advancing to the regionals in 2011. Their highest finish ever at the regional level was an eighth-place effort in 2005.
