NORFOLK, Va. – The second annual Hampton Roads Youth Day women's basketball game at Norfolk State saw an increased attendance of nearly 30 percent from the inaugural game in 2017.
A crowd of 1,932 – comprised mostly of middle school students from the city of Norfolk – saw a close game between the Norfolk State women's basketball team and Campbell on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at Joseph Echols Hall. It was the second straight year that NSU has partnered with Norfolk Public Schools to host a day basketball game with middle school students serving as the target audience. The goal was to provide the students with a fun atmosphere and help them learn a little about Norfolk State University.
Last year's inaugural game with NPS students drew 1,512 fans.
"We are pleased that we were able to provide the middle school students with a chance to learn a little about what Norfolk State has to offer," NSU Athletics Director
Marty L. Miller said. "We hope to continue our partnership with Norfolk Public Schools in the future."
