FARMVILLE, Va. – Norfolk State women's tennis dropped a 4-0 decision to Longwood at Lancer Courts on Sunday evening.
The Lancers (8-8) swept all three doubles matches to start the outing. At top-seeded doubles, Marija Venta and Kaori Terunuma shut out
Dajana Cvjetkovic and
Paula Fortuno, 6-0.
Longwood then wrapped up the doubles point with a 6-0 win by Tanja Skalda and Julia Candiotto on the third court. Jamie Breunig and Yulia Almiron downed
Bruna Goncalves and
Ana Popovic, 6-2 on the second court, to conclude doubles action.
The Spartans (2-7) quickly dropped three-straight in singles play.
Skalda dispatched
Tyrika Lee in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, in the fifth-seeded flight. On court three, Breuning defeated Popovic, 6-3, 6-0.
Candiotto secured the win with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of
Nena Greenhouse at No. 6 singles.
Longwood won the first set in all three unfinished matches. On the first court, Cvjetkovic dropped the first set to Almiron, 6-2. Fortuno lost the first set 6-4 in her second-seeded flight against Venta, and Goncalves fell to Terunuma, 6-1, on the fourth court.
The Spartans finish out the regular season with four-straight home matches against MEAC Northern Division foes, beginning with a 4 p.m. clash with Hampton on Thursday.
