EARLYSVILLE, Va. – The Norfolk State men's cross country team opened the 2018 season Saturday morning by competing in the University of Virginia Duals at Panorama Farms.

Festus Bett was the Spartans' top finisher on the 4,000-meter course, finishing in 13 minutes, 49.70 seconds. He placed ninth overall. Freshman
Kamil Jihad (14:17.19),
Felix Kiprotich (14:33.75) and
Joseph Wanene (15:57.70) rounded out NSU's four-man team for the race, which was scored in a dual-meet format. U.Va. won with 15 points, while NSU tallied 30.
The Spartans have a week off before returning to Earlysville for the Panorama Farms Invitational on Sept. 14.
