NORFOLK, Va. – Naz Karagoz' monopolization of the MEAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week honor continued on Wednesday, when the conference named the graduate student its player of the week for the fourth-straight week.
Karagoz extended a pair of individual winning streaks while helping Norfolk State to its third win in a row with a 6-1 result over Howard last Saturday.
In doubles play, the native of Istanbul, Turkey paired with
Zoe Fraser for a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles – extending the tandem's winning streak to six matches. Karagoz was equally dominant in her victory at No. 1 singles, collecting a 6-1, 6-3 sweep to push her unbeaten streak to five matches.
The Spartans go for a perfect finish to MEAC Northern Division play this weekend, when they travel to Coppin State on Saturday before facing off with Morgan State the next day. A pair of victories would give NSU its second Northern Division crown and would mark the program's second-ever perfect conference season.
