NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State All-American sprinter Kiara Grant was named Thursday as the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year, the organization announced.

Grant is coming off her third straight indoor season earning Division I All-America accolades. This year, she finished third in the 60 meters at the NCAA Indoor Championships. Grant topped her own school record in the prelims, clocking a time of 7.11 seconds. She then recorded a time of 7.16 in the finals to win the bronze medal, the second-highest finish ever for a Spartan women's track athlete at a Division I championship meet.

Grant also posted a season-best time of 23.68 seconds in the 200 meters, earning one of three spots for sprinters on the all-state first team.

This is the second year that VaSID has recognized an all-state track team. NSU has won the Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year both years, as Grant's teammate, Martha Bissah, won the award last year.
