NORFOLK, Va. --- The Norfolk State women's track and field team finished third at the MEAC Outdoor Championships on Saturday afternoon.

Howard won the meet with 235 points, while Morgan State finished second with 119 points. Norfolk State totaled 111 points.

Lexa Hunter earned the Spartans' first medal of the day, clearing 3.40 meters in the pole vault to place second.
Emma Svetiev added points with a fourth-place finish after clearing 3.20 meters.
Kaena Riley rounded out the Spartans' scoring in the field events, placing fifth in the javelin with a throw of 30.92 meters.

Brooklyn Robinson captured two medals in the sprint events. She placed second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.13 before taking third in the 100 meters in 11.59.
Asiah Wike also scored in the 100 meters, placing seventh in 11.91.

Abigael Chebet secured Norfolk State's lone gold medal of the day, winning the 5,000 meters in 18:36.16.
Amira Dailey followed with an eighth-place finish in 20:07.57. The Spartans' 4x100-meter relay team of Wike, Robinson,
Autumn Burrell and
Nevaeh Lewis earned a bronze medal with a time of 45.81.

Payton Drumwright added points in the 400-meter hurdles, placing sixth in 1:00.57. Burrell also scored in the 200 meters, finishing in 24.40. In the middle-distance events,
Jahmei Wyatt placed sixth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:16.67, while
Moamiky Kenneh followed in seventh in 2:16.93. Wyatt also scored in the 1,500 meters, clocking a time of 5:06.20.

Norfolk State closed the meet with a fifth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay.
Jada Arrington, Burrell, Wyatt and Drumwright combined for a time of 3:49.81.
