NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State senior catcher Tuli Iosefa and freshman pitcher Kennedy Cameron earned two of the three weekly honors from the MEAC on Tuesday. Iosefa was named the Player of the Week for the third time this year, and Cameron shared the Rookie of the Week Award.

The duo helped lead NSU to a four-game sweep of Coppin State at home last Friday and Saturday. Iosefa batted 6-for-10 with 10 RBI, three runs scored, three doubles and a home run. Cameron earned the win in game 1 on Saturday as NSU won 10-2 in five innings.

A Virginia Beach native, Iosefa drove in seven runs in Saturday's doubleheader. She hit a three-run double in the first game and added a two-run home run, four RBI total and two runs scored in game 2, won by a 14-4 margin.

She also drove in a run in the first game on Friday and added a two-run single in game 2 that day as NSU won 10-3 and 9-1. For the year, Iosefa is hitting .344 while leading the team with four home runs, 24 RBI, a .625 slugging percentage and a .451 on-base percentage.

Cameron, a Longview, Texas native, got the start and the win in game 1 after pitching 4.2 innings of the five-inning game. She allowed just one hit and one earned run while striking out three.

For the year, Cameron owns a 1-2 record with a 2.95 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 19.0 innings of work. She shared this week's award with Mia Ewell of Morgan State.

Norfolk State has now won nine weekly awards from the conference this year, including four pitcher of the week honors, three player of the week awards, and a pair of rookie awards.

The Spartans will have the weekend off before heading to Orangeburg, South Carolina to take part in the MEAC Round-Up April 16-18. NSU will play each Southern Division team twice.
