Giles Adds 4 to Men's Track Program

| By:
NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State University Director of Track & Field Kenneth Giles announced Friday the addition of four student-athletes who have joined the Spartan men's program for the 2021-22 school year.

The group includes two transfer sprinters, one jumper and one pole vaulter.

Here is a look at the newcomers, with Giles' comments on each:

Dazon Harrison (Annandale, Va./Ferrum College)
Background:
Harrison transfers to NSU from Division III Ferrum College, where he earned first-team All-America honors in the 400 meters as a true freshman. He was ODAC runner-up in the 200 and champion in the 400 meters (PR, 47.56 seconds.)
Giles Says: "Dazon had a very strong freshman season at Ferrum and we think he will be a great complement to our already strong group of 400 meter runners."

Kalon Jeffery (Chesapeake, Va./Indian River HS)
Background:
Jeffery was an all-state performer during both his indoor and outdoor seasons as a senior at Indian River last year. He placed fourth at the state outdoor meet with a PR of 13 feet.
Giles Says: "Kalon fills a major area of need for us. He should be one of the top jumpers in the conference."

Joshua Peterson (Alexandria, Va./T.C. Williams HS)
Background:
Peterson won the VHSL Class 6 state outdoor long jump championship as a senior with a personal-best of 24-10. He was also third in the triple jump with a PR of 47-0 and advanced to the Nike Outdoor Nationals in both events.
Giles Says: "Joshua is our best jump recruit since All-American Corey Vinston. We think he has the ability to compete at the national level right away."

Jordan Williams (St. Petersburg, Fla./Bethune-Cookman)
Background:
Williams is a graduate transfer from Bethune-Cookman, where he qualified for the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Championships in both the 400 and 4x400 relay. He has run PRs of 20.71 in the 200 meters and 45.60 in the 400.
Giles Says: "Jordan's resume speaks for itself. His addition elevates us nationally. He comes with loads of experience and will team with (All-American) Trequan Barnes to give us a great 1-2 punch in the 400."

Giles added: "The addition of Williams makes this the year for a special season. All areas were filled and I expect major results from this team at the national level."
