EARLYSVILLE, Va. – Norfolk State sophomore
Gidion Sigei shined on the big stage again for the Spartan men's cross country team, posting another season-best at the Panorama Farms XC23 Invitational on Saturday at Panorama Farms.
In a meet filled with regional powers from the likes of the ACC and SEC, Sigei finished in 23rd place out of 176 runners. He ran a season-best time of 23 minutes, 50.2 seconds, one second faster than his time from the Paul Short Invitation two weeks ago that already ranked as the MEAC's fastest time by almost a minute.
Isa Suleiman was the Spartans' next-highest finisher. He registered a time of 25:58, his fastest as a Spartan. Senior
Regan Kimtai was next in a time of 26:26.6, and classmate
Evans Cheruiyot posted a time of 26:38.9.
Brian Rotich, making his NSU debut, finished fifth among Spartan runners in 28:55.4.
Jahquan Christopher rounded out the Spartans who competed.
The Spartans are off this weekend before they compete at the 2022 MEAC Cross Country Championship on Oct. 29 in Smyrna, Delaware. NSU is the two-time defending champion.
