NORFOLK, Va. – After earning a pair of holiday victories, two Norfolk State women's basketball players have snatched MEAC weekly honors for their contributions against William & Mary and UNC Wilmington.

Kierra Wheeler was named MEAC Player of the Week on Tuesday, averaging 11.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per contest across both games. She recorded 15 points and eight rebounds against the Seahawks, shooting 5-of-8 from the floor.

Niya Fields earned her first weekly MEAC nod of her career, taking the Defensive Player of the Week recognition. The sophomore guard averaged 5.0 steals and 2.5 rebounds per contest in the Spartans' two wins, including a career-high seven steals against William & Mary.
