NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State men's tennis team's season came to a close in the first round of the MEAC Tennis Championships on Thursday, falling 4-0 against Howard at Cary Tennis Park. The Spartans finished the season 2-15, 0-3 in the conference.

Howard took an early edge by winning opening doubles point thanks to dominant performances on Courts 2 and 3.
Vincent Jarvis and
Ryan Richter lost 6-0 at No. 3 doubles, while
Ibrahim Abbas and
Roosevelt Brown III were defeated 6-0 at No. 2.
Federico Rebecchini and
Hugo Massoni Lena were tied with Howard's Justin Cadeau and Daniel Dunac 3-3 when play stopped.

Richter and Jarvis both lost at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively by scores of 6-0, 6-0. Brown was overcome by Dunac 6-0, 6-0 shortly after, clinching the victory for the Bison.

The remaining three matches went unfinished, with the Spartans leading two of them. Abbas trailed Marcel Dawson 6-0, 3-0 at No. 3 singles, while
Federico Rebecchini maintained a 6-5 edge in the first set at No. 1 against Cadeau. Massoni Lena, a freshman, won the first set 6-2 at the No. 2 slot against Tory Bailey, and led 1-0 in the second set when Howard clinched.
