Norfolk State Releases 2023 Softball Schedule

NORFOLK, Va. | Norfolk State University head softball coach Carrie Hoeft announced on Tuesday the upcoming 2023 softball schedule, which features 25 home games at the NSU Softball Field.

"We are excited for the upcoming season, with a very competitive schedule," Hoeft said. "We look forward to putting together another excellent season, with the goal of winning the conference championship."

Norfolk State, which went 34-23 overall last season and 16-5 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), will look to add another successful season to the books. The Spartans saw their goal of winning the conference tournament championship fall just short with a loss to Howard to conclude the 2022 campaign.

NSU opens the season with four games in Greensboro, N.C. against Youngstown State and North Carolina A&T State (February 11-12).

The Spartans will play their next eight games against Bucknell (February 17), UMass-Lowell and Georgetown (February 18), Wagner (February 19), Buffalo and Stony Brook (February 24), Morehead State (February 25) and Colgate (February 26).

Norfolk State opens the second month of the season in Hampton, Va. against George Washington (March 3), followed by home games against Delaware (March 3-4) and Binghampton (March 4).

NSU takes to the road for their next four games, visiting East Carolina (March 11-12), along with neutral site games against UMass (March 11-12).

The Spartans open MEAC play at home as Howard (March 18-19) visits the NSU Softball Field, followed by a non-conference tilt against Hampton (March 22).

The first road conference series series comes at the back end of the month with a trip to Baltimore, Md. as NSU visits Morgan State (March 25-26).

Norfolk State returns home for six consecutive games against Coppin State (April 1-2) and South Carolina State (April 7-8).

NSU visits Hampton (April 25), before trips to North Carolina Central (April 15-16) and Delaware State (April 22-23).

The Spartans visit ACC foe N.C. State (April 26), before their final home series against Maryland Eastern Shore (April 29-30).

Norfolk State wraps up the regular season with a doubleheader at Campbell (May 2).

The 2023 MEAC Softball Tournament Championship begins on May 10 and will be played as the NSU Softball Field.
