Wheeler Earns Third Consecutive MEAC Player of the Week Recognition

| By:
NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State junior Kierra Wheeler received acknowledgement from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) for another outstanding stretch, earning the conference's Player of the Week recognition on Wednesday.

The accolade comes after a pair of dominant road performances by the Minneapolis native. Across two games, Wheeler averaged 24.0 points, 14.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.0 blocks per contest while shooting 48.6 percent from the floor and 72.2 percent from the free throw line.

The Spartans opened the week at Auburn, where Wheeler tallied a 15-point, 11-rebound double-double.

Norfolk State bounced back from the loss to the Tigers with a thrilling 85-71 overtime victory over High Point, fueled by a career night from Wheeler. Shooting 11-of-19 from the floor, Wheeler registered 33 points and 17 rebounds, as well as a career-best five assists.

The recognition marked Wheeler's third consecutive MEAC Player of the Week award, and seventh of her career. She becomes the first Norfolk State women's basketball player to be named MEAC Player of the Week in three consecutive weeks since Chanette Hicks achieved the feat in 2019.
