CARY, N.C. – Norfolk State sophomore
Aleksandra Evdokimova won her fifth consecutive singles match on Friday, as the Spartans fell 6-1 to Delaware State on the second day of the MEAC Tennis Roundup.
The Spartans dropped the opening doubles point, as the Hornets won 6-0 on Court 2 and 6-2 on Court 3.
Evdokimova got the victory at No. 1 singles with ease, taking down Kit Yi Kay Au-Yeung in straight sets 6-3, 6-0.
The Hornets earned straight-set wins at the No. 3, 5, and 6 positions, earning the clinching point.
Amal Gati and
Breana Cook battled until the end on Courts 2 and 4, respectively, both falling in third sets. Gati won the opening set 7-6 against Noelani Lui, but dropped the second 6-3.
Cook lost her first set against Klaudija Lisovska 6-4, but came back to take the second set by the same score. Both Gati amd Cook fell 10-7 in their respective third set tiebreakers.
The Spartans finish the MEAC Roundup against Howard on Saturday at 12 p.m.
