NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State men's tennis team dropped a home match 5-0 on Saturday to the College of Charleston at NSU Tennis Complex.

The Cougars took the opening doubles point by winning on Courts 2 and 3. Johnny Wang and Noah Barges defeat
Saadiq Hinton and
Ibrahim Abbas 6-1 at the No. 3 position, before Jordyn Larke and Matias Gaedechens took down
Boris Lunin and
Hugo Massoni Lena 6-2 at No. 2.

College of Charleston took that momentum into singles play, winning No. 3 singles by default and 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions for the clinching points.

Mattia Bernardi defeated
Federico Rebecchini 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 1 position, the last match to finish before thunderstorms halted the rest. Two singles matches went unfinished:
Boris Lunin's at No. 4 singles and
Hugo Massoni Lena at No. 2. Lunin had bounced back after losing the first set, tying the second at 6-6. Massoni Lena evened his match 1-1, standing tied 3-3 in the third set tiebreaker when play stopped.

Norfolk State returns to the court on Sunday at 12 p.m. to face Virginia State at NSU Tennis Complex.
