Sidibe Awarded NCAA Ethnic Minority Scholarship

| By:
NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State senior Yoro Sidibe has been awarded an NCAA Ethnic Minority Graduate Scholarship by the NCAA Minority Opportunities and Interest Committee for the 2023-24 academic year.

To be eligible for selection, candidates must be enrolled in a sports-related program as a full-time graduate student, as defined by the graduate institution.

Sidibe appeared in 12 games for the Spartans, scoring three points and grabbing five rebounds in the team's season-opener against Virginia University of Lynchburg.

A regular member of the AD Honor Roll, Sidibe landed on the 2022-23 NSU Athletics All-Academic Team for earning the top GPA in the men's basketball program. He graduated this spring with a B.S. in Accountancy.

In 2022, Sidibe received the AASP Career Development Award. He was one of just two recipients of the honor from the NCAA's Accelerating Academic Success Program (AASP), which aims to support the professional development of student-athletes who are planning to pursue a career in athletics.

Outside of the court and classroom, Sidibe has given back to his home country Senegal by organizing shoe drives and summer basketball camps. Read more about Sidibe's impact at the link below:
