NORFOLK, Va. --- The Norfolk State women's basketball team picked up two Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) accolades on Tuesday afternoon announced by the conference office.
Graduate guard Diamond Johnson received her second MEAC Player of the Week recognition, while senior forward Kierra Wheeler earned her second MEAC Defensive Player of the Week honors following their performances against Radford and UNCW.
Johnson averaged 21.0 points, 4.0 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 5.5 steals per game. In the win against Radford, Johnson posted 22 points, and five steals, while shooting a career high 8-for-8 at the free throw line.
Wheeler averaged 16.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals, and 2.5 blocks across two wins for the Spartans. In the victory against UNCW, Wheeler tallied 16 points and three blocks while contributing 17 points, two blocks and two steals in the win against Radford.
The Spartans will play three games this week, beginning on Nov. 28 against Washington State, Nov. 29 against Wyoming, and Nov. 30 against Green Bay at the Discover Puerto Rico Shootout in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
