NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk State softball team hosted Syracuse and Quinnipiac on Tuesday at the NSU Softball Field for the last games of this series. They fell to Quinnipiac, 7-1, and Syracuse, 8-0.
The Spartans (1-23) played against the Bobcats of Quinnipiac (8-3) for the first game of the day.
Against Quinnipiac, the Spartans collected five hits.
Aniyah Michalak,
Maddy Morris,
Brierra Tyler,
Savannah Drozda, and
Lauren Sheehan each recorded a hit.
At the bottom of the fourth, the Spartans scored a run off
TC Watson's groundout to second. It scored
Kira Turner from third who came in to pinch run for Drozda, after her single led off the inning.
It would bring the score with three runs at 4-1 but three unanswered runs by the Bobcats secured them the win 7-1 over the Spartans.
Against Syracuse, the Spartans fell in five innings to the Orange.
Kailey Bryant had the only hit for the Spartans.
Desmyn Owen's and
Emma Zieg only walked a combined two batters against 30 batters faced.
Coming up - The Spartans will begin play in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) on Thursday and Friday against South Carolina State in Orangeburg, S.C.
There will be a doubleheader on Thursday at 2 and 4 p.m. and single game on Friday at 11 a.m.
