PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The Norfolk State baseball team earned its second consecutive conference victory on Friday, defeating Maryland Eastern Shore 11-2 at Henry S. Parker Athletic Complex.
The Spartans picked up a run in the opening half inning, before
Jamal Ritter crossed home plate in the second after stealing a pair of bases. Norfolk State took command of the game in the third inning, starting with
Justin Journette's three-run home run down the left field line.
The blast gave Norfolk State a 5-1 advantage, but the Spartans weren't done with the third inning yet.
Swaroop Pujari tacked on another run with a single, before
Manny Jackson drove in two runs with a double down the right field line.
Journette continued his strong day with an RBI double in the sixth inning, before Ritter and
Collin Curry knocked in runs a few at-bats later.
Dalton Barham dominated in his fourth start of the season, picking up his third win. The Norfolk native pitched 6.0 innings, racking up six strikeouts while allowing just six hits and one earned run.
Liam Royster,
Mac Yarbrough, and
Nolan Manzer each tossed strong innings from there, closing out the win for the Spartans.

Norfolk State returns on Saturday for the second game of the series, with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
