PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The Norfolk State baseball team completed a series sweep of Maryland Eastern Shore on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Hawks 9-4 in a strong team performance all-around.

As the Spartans (7-11, 4-2 NEC) have done all season, they displayed terrific resilience against an early deficit. Maryland Eastern Shore (0-14, 0-3) took a 3-0 lead with an explosive first inning, taking advantage of multiple defensive errors by NSU.

Manny Jackson drove in a run to get the Spartans on the board in the third inning, before
Collin Curry delivered a two-run home run to tie things up in the fifth.
Jamal Ritter accounted for two of Norfolk State's first three runs.

The fifth-inning rally didn't end there. After the Spartans loaded the bases again,
Justin Journette ripped a two-RBI single to push the Spartans ahead.

The Hawks got a run back in the sixth, but Journette continued his spectacular stretch with a solo home run in his next trip to the plate. Just moments later, Curry launched his second homer of the day as well, scoring himself and
Raphael Rodriguez.

Entering the game during the sixth inning,
Parker Hampton earned the save for the Spartans. The freshman tossed 3.2 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and one walk.
