NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State men's tennis teams dropped a pair of matches on Tuesday to conclude the regular season, falling 4-0 at Hampton and 5-2 against North Carolina A&T.

The Spartans recognized their lone senior,
Boris Lunin, prior to the afternoon match against the Aggies at NSU Tennis Complex. Lunin stepped up to the occasion, reeling off 11 straight games to close out a three-set singles victory.

Hampton took the opening doubles point in the first match of the day, winning 6-1 on Court 1 and 6-2 on Court 3.
Deniz Okyay and Lunin earned a 6-1 victory at the No. 2 position.

Daniel Flynn put the Pirates ahead 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the No. 4 singles position, before Emiliano Jorquera took down
Jakub Solarski 3-6, 6-3, 4-6 in a tough match at the No. 2 slot.

Donte Armbrister closed the match out for Hampton, defeating Okyay 6-3, 6-1 on Court 3.

The Spartans got off to a strong start in doubles in their second match of the day, as Solarski and
Antoni Pankowski earned a 6-4 victory at the top position. North Carolina A&T bounced back quickly, though, winning 6-3 and 6-4 on Courts 2 and 3, respectively, to take the doubles point.

Esteban Lopez took down Gorbatenko 6-2, 6-2 on Court 1, before Lucas Coupu-Moison defeated Solarski 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 2 position to extend the Aggie advantage to 3-0.

McRae earned his 12
th consecutive singles victory to get the Spartans on the board, coming from behind to defeat Said Akbarov 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 4 position.

Kaua Santos rallied to overcome Pankowski on Court 5, however, by a score of 1-6, 6-1, 6-4. The result clinched the team victory for North Carolina A&T, holding a 4-1 lead.

Lunin rallied to earn a senior day singles victory at the No. 6 position. After dropping the first set, he dominated the rest of the afternoon to take down Matthieu Dussaubat 4-6, 6-2, 6-0.

North Carolina A&T ended the match with another close victory on Court 4, as Ian Pedersen bested Okyay 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.

The Spartans now turn their attention to next week's MEAC Tennis Tournament, entering the competition as the No. 2 seed.
