Gilbreath, Michalak, and Tyler Heroics Secure Spartans Win

PRINCESS ANNE, M.D. - The Norfolk State softball team split their Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference series with Maryland Eastern Shore on Saturday, in the 6-2 loss in game one and a 9-4 win in game two, after incredible performances by Rylie Gilbreath, Aniyah Michalak, and Brierra Tyler.
Rylie Gilbreath has been a home run queen for the Spartans hitting her third homer in the past six games. 
Her three-run bomb in the top of the fourth in game two garnered Norfolk State the 9-4 win over the Hawks. Gilbreath had two hits, three RBIs, and one home run in the win.
Gilbreath wasn't the only Spartan who had a multi-base hit in the win. Aniyah Michalak hit her first career triple in the first inning.
Gilbreath and Michalak were amazing in the series: Gilbreath finished the series going 5-for-8, two runs, two doubles, two runs, three RBIs, and one home run.
Michalak had a triple, a stolen base, two RBIs, going 4-for-8 across the two games.
Pitcher Brierra Tyler was awarded the win in game two after an outstanding performance in the circle that saw her record six strikeouts.
Tyler currently leads the team in strikeouts on the season with 39 total in fourteen appearances.
Coming up - The Spartans will play the Hawks again tomorrow at 12 p.m. before heading back to Norfolk, Va. to host Morgan State in the ESPNU televised game at 12 p.m.
