NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State head baseball coach
Keith Shumate announced the team's 2025 schedule on Saturday, headlined by in-state matchups against Virginia Tech, VMI, and Old Dominion.

The 2025 campaign will mark the Spartans third year competing in the Northeast Conference (NEC), looking to achieve a breakthrough amongst fierce competition.
Â
"Our players are looking forward to the tough NEC schedule," Shumate said. "My guys embrace the challenge."
Â
The Spartans open the season home at Marty L. Miller Field, hosting Mount St. Mary's for a three-game weekend series (Feb. 14-16). The Spartans remain in Norfolk for three matchups against Butler (Feb. 21-23), before hitting the road for an in-state series at VMI (Feb. 28-Mar. 2).
Â
Norfolk State heads to Blacksburg for two games against Virginia Tech, just the second-ever meeting between the Spartans and Hokies. Â VT defeated NSU 12-5 during the 2015 season.
Â
NSU opens NEC play at home, hosting Wagner (Mar. 7-9) and Stonehill (Mar. 14-16) at Marty L. Miller Field. FDU presents Norfolk State's first road challenge of the conference slate (Mar. 21-23), before heading to Le Moyne (Mar 28-30) from there.
Â
After a midweek home standalone rematch with VMI, the Spartans host Saint Peter's (Apr. 4-6). Old Dominion comes to NSU territory on Apr. 8, marking the Monarchs first appearance on Marty L. Miller Field since 2013.
Â
Norfolk State travels to Baltimore to battle former MEAC foe Coppin State (Apr. 11-13), before hosting defending NEC champion LIU (Apr. 17-19). Central Connecticut State (Apr. 25-27) looms next on the schedule, before meeting Mercyhurst (May 2-4) and Delaware State (May 9-11). NSU closes the regular season at home against Maryland Eastern Shore (May 15-17).
Â
The top four teams in the NEC standings at the conclusion of the regular season will advance to the conference tournament, a double-elimination format from May 22-25.
